October 29, 2008 – The Red Bull Drifting World Championship has released the initial entry list to this premiere event. 32 drivers from 12 nations will battle to become the first ever World Champion on November 15-16, 2008 in Long Beach, CA.

With drifting’s popularity increasing in many parts of the world, the Red Bull Drifting World Championship is bringing together the world’s best drifters to take part in this invitation only event. The competing drivers will battle it out for the largest prize purse in the history of the sport.

“17 Current and Past Champions will compete at the Red Bull Drifting World Championship,” says Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “With the chance to become the first ever World Champion, the level of competition is the highest it’s ever been and we are excited to bring to the fans a chance to see drifting history.”

Invitations were sent to the top drivers in the world from the various drifting organizations. Currently 17 champions will be competing from Formula DRIFT, D1GP, Pro Drift European Series, European Drift Championship (EDC), D1 New Zealand, Drift Mania Canadian Championship (DMCC), Drift Australia, International Drift Series (IDS), Nordic Drifting Championship, New Zealand Drift, and FD Singapore.
